A Letter From Constance R. Arter, Director of Alumni Affairs

Did You Know?

I am so pleased to share with you our new alumni Web site, which brings all of our programs and services under one “roof.” Yet there are still many little-known alumni program facts for you to be aware of.

For example, did you know that you can apply to be a member of the Alumni Advisory Council? You can be a voice on behalf of our alumni population to the University’s senior staffers. This group of highly dedicated graduates also helps the Office of Alumni Affairs develop and test new programs and services for alumni.

University depends on the council members as idea generators, focus group participants, mentors, campus liaisons and leaders of the council’s subcommittees. All alumni are welcome to apply for membership on the council. Members are chosen through a selection process.

Also, did you know that the alumni who appear on the cover of Scholar magazine are often selected from the success stories submitted through the Web site?

Scholar cover people are also chosen based on the profile information in the Alumni Directory —all the more reason for you to register and keep your profile updated. So go ahead, tell us about your accomplishments!

Did you know that if you live in a city where Strayer University has a campus, we are in your area at least once a year? That’s right—personnel from the Office of Alumni Affairs and the Alumni Advisory Council visit each of the University’s regions at least once a year for an evening of informal networking or to participate in a community event.

We were recently in Philadelphia, Pa., and Atlanta, Ga., and we have an exciting roster of events coming up in the next few months.

If you live in the National Capital area, I hope you will come out in support of breast cancer research, as Team Strayer University Alumni storms the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Breast cancer is an issue that touches the lives of so many of our graduates, and the Race for the Cure event on June 7 is our chance to say as an alumni body, “We care.”

I look forward to seeing you there, and to hearing from you about any other alumni facts you may have unearthed yourselves. There is always something new to learn.
