2007 Outstanding Alumni Award Recipient, Richmond Ceremony

Nicole Faison (MBA '02) currently serves as the director of the Office of Public Housing Programs for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where she oversees all aspects of the public housing program for more than 1.2 million households nationwide.

As part of her Strayer directed research project, in 2001, Ms. Faison used game theory to develop a system for verifying tenants’ financial data. In 2002, HUD implemented the program, which has reduced the department’s improper payments by more than 60% and removed it from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) high-risk list. She received a personal commendation from President George W. Bush in 2007 for her efforts, which have been credited with saving taxpayers $500 million annually.
