Congratulations to our Outstanding Alumni Award Winner

Dr. Stacey-Ann Okoth is a leader, author, and entrepreneur with a career spanning business, nursing, and psychology. Her journey began as a home health aide, which fueled her passion for health care and for serving her community.

While working full-time in newspaper advertising, Dr. Okoth earned her Bachelor of Business Administration at Strayer University. Driven to make a difference in health care, she pivoted into nursing. She earned her Licensed Practical Nurse credential and began her hospital career. She quickly advanced, obtaining a Registered Nurse credential and earning recognition for her leadership potential.

Dr. Okoth returned to Strayer University for a Master of Business Administration. “Earning my MBA not only expanded my leadership capabilities but also gave me the confidence and credibility to excel in higher levels of management,” she reflects.

Dr. Okoth progressed from nurse manager to department manager, ultimately reaching the role of Senior Vice President and Associate Chief Nurse Executive for a 17-hospital health system in Philadelphia. She led vital initiatives in ambulatory nursing, patient experience, and workforce development. “One of the things that I absolutely love is developing people,” she says.

In 2023, Dr. Okoth shared lessons from her 20-year career in the book Resilience Through the Stethoscope: A Nurse Executive’s Journey. She then founded Okoth Inspire LLC, a mentoring, coaching, and consulting business that helps health care organizations develop leadership capabilities, optimize workforce performance, and improve patient outcomes. She specializes in supporting leaders and professionals from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented communities.

“My goal is to help others advance professionally and personally — to reach their highest pinnacle, whatever that is,” Dr. Okoth says.

As a first-generation college graduate, Dr. Okoth’s academic accomplishments are a source of pride. In addition to her degrees from Strayer University, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Penn State University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University, a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Old Dominion University, and a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University.
