JOB TITLE: Tommies Together Student Director Internship
LOCATION(S): St. Paul campus
PAY RATE: $15.97/hour
HOURS: 6-10 hours/week during Spring Term 2025
The Tommies Together Volunteer Center provides resources to empower students, faculty and staff at the University of St. Thomas to become morally responsible leaders who think critically, act wisely and work skillfully to advance the common good through community engagement.
Position Description:
Tommies Together Student Directors support the Tommies Together Volunteer Center by providing students with opportunities to explore community engagement, learn about social issues, and engage in collaborative changemaking. This support is provided through programming, one-on-one or group coaching, and administrative assistance to name a few common shared responsibilities. Below are position specific responsibilities and can be discussed in more detail with the Tommies Together Volunteer Center staff.
ALL Tommies Together Interns will be expected to:

Attend scheduled Tommies Together staff group meetings and regular one-on-one meetings with advisor

Work 6-10 office hours a week
-
Serve as a resource for students or student groups looking for volunteer opportunities

Maintain a clean working space & maintain ASC 311 storage with assistance from CCG staff
-
Support events such as Welcome Days, Volunteer Fairs, Student Activities Fair, and other TTVC events and programs
-
Help plan and execute a reflection/celebration event for volunteers each semester
-
Support Center for the Common Good staff with office wide administrative tasks as needed
-
Abide by all University policies and procedures

Assist with other duties as necessary
Tutor-Mentor Student Co-Director:
The Tutor-Mentor Student Co-Directors serve as the connection between UST student volunteers and the local community partners where students volunteer.

Collaborate with other Tutor Mentor Student Co-Director and TTVC Graduate assistant to manage regular communication and logistics for Tutor Mentor program

Support clubs engaged with youth engagement opportunities on campus
-
Answer questions from student volunteers, typically via email or one-on-one meetings
-
Implement a recruitment plan for the Tutor-Mentor Program
-
Meet with potential volunteers to onboard them into the program
-
Maintain a record of all current Tutor Mentor volunteers
-
Communicate with Community Partner Site Leaders

Check-in with Tommie Volunteers 1-2 times per month
-
Assure students have transportation to sites and that policies and paperwork related to transportation are completed
-
Provide outstanding professional customer service to schools and volunteers through reminders and updates that are consistent and clear
Shelter Crew Student Co-Director (1 position available for Spring 2025 w/possible extension to 25-26 academic year):

Communicate with Shelter Crew Leads/Drivers and send regular shift reminders
-
Assist with Shelter Crew Orientation & Onboarding meetings for Academic Community Engagement classes
-
Schedule and execute onboarding meetings with new Shelter Crew students
-
Serve as a student liaison between Catholic Charities and the Center for the Common Good
-
Assist with the planning and execution of housing justice focused educational events such as Catholic Charities’ Family Journeys in Homelessness
-
Assure students have transportation to sites and that policies and paperwork related to transportation are completed
-
Host Habitat for Humanity Builds 1-2 times/semester. Be on site for build events or arrange for another intern to be present.

Regularly attend volunteer opportunities at Catholic Charities and serve as a Shelter Crew Driver/Lead as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate must hold at least a 3.0 G.P.A
-
Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving standard size university vehicles (5 to 7 passengers)

Candidate must become an approved driver through UST
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Prior volunteer or event planning experience
-
A passion for organization and community volunteering
-
Past experience volunteering with the Shelter Crew Program
